Wyldlife Weekend 2026 at Camp Daley

Here's your brief-ish recap to kick off 2026!

âś… New Staff Training

Jake spent the second week of January, alongside hundreds of new staff across the nation, at a Young Life Camp - Sharptop Cove, GA. He returned with a fresh perspective of leadership, new friends in the mission, & deeper understanding of YL's core.

Key Takeaways

1. Incarnational ministry involves laying down your life for others.

2. Prayer isn't preparation for the work, it is the work.

3. God cares more about who you ARE than what you DO.

4. Multiethnic ministry doesn't fit the traditional YL club mold & that's ok.

5. Contact Work is the healthiest foundation - not club, not camp, not campaigners.

Bonus - Late Night Waffle House

âś… HHS Volunteer Coach

After an extensive process, Jake completed all the steps to become a cleared volunteer for the Centinela Valley Union High School District (Hawthorne, Leuzinger, & Lawndale schools). He's a Volunteer Coach for Hawthorne High School's Boys Volleyball team. He had a GREAT first day with students! GO COUGARS!

âś… Wyldlife Weekend

Jan. 30 - Feb. 2nd, 160 kids from all over LA spent the weekend at WYLDLIFE WEEKEND CAMP! There was such a vibrant energy from the kids & truly passionate, sacrificial leaders. Although LAX didn't bring any kids to weekend camp (this time), Jake got to serve on the Program Team!

✅ The Little Things

As Jake is settling into his role as a volunteer coach, he's looking for more ways to offer support. Where he lacks technical volleyball training, he makes up for in small acts of service.

Sweeping the floor before practice, setting alarms for kids to leave on time, making sure they have water, sharing encouragement, getting headbands for the kids with longer hair, giving rides, surprise lunch visits, and celebrating birthdays with a post-practice pie.

It's been an encouraging start to the year & we invite you to pray with us going forward!
