Young Life LAX Club Launch @ Denny's (Feb 23, 2026)

✅ Club Launch Set

After a year of training, fundraising, outreach events, leader recruitment, & community building - we finally set a club launch date for Monday, Feb. 23rd! Leading up to, we'd been through a dozen plans to re-launch club ministry. Potential opportunities kept fizzling out.

Persistent struggles were thought to be akin to Jacob's wrestling with God, eventually to overcome and win favor. Suddenly, it felt like struggling with a cracked door, chain locked on the other side. Letting that last door close, God opened a window. We had our Leader Meeting at Denny's and noticed some empty space there on a Monday night. Specifically, a decent sized outdoor tent space that'd be cool to meet in. A window of opportunity, perhaps?

S/O to our leader, Andrew Vega. He really took the lead on making this a reality. He initiated the conversation to inquire about the space, then led us in a bold prayer before we left the parking lot. We needed it for free, with grace for chaotic programs, & without the expectation of guaranteed business. The response? "Absolutely! Let's give it a go! Why wouldn't we?"

✅ Y2K Club

For our very first club, we had 12 students!! Free food definitely helped our promoting! Pancakes and bacon were promised and delivered to all who showed. We weren't sure how the games would be received. But they all seemed to enjoy the chaotic premises, weird rules, & hilarious situations. Y2K Club was a solid starter!

Denny's staff were super kind & actually grateful that we were there! So refreshing!! Our server thanked us for creating such a fun, safe opportunity for teenagers in the area. He alongside other patrons & staff make their way over to the windows to check out the action! Pray continued mercy & grace from our hosts. Also pray the right kids keep showing up.

✅ Spring FUNraiser Plans

To keep our reactivated ministry going, our committee met to plan out fundraising opportunities. We have a $30k goal to raise for our Program Budget by June to continue our work in the community. To support our mission, consider joining our monthly support team by giving online!
